ABOUT. I honed my design skills through years of intensive typeface design at Hoefler & Frere-Jones, a cutting-edge digital type foundry, and by slogging knee-deep through the trenches of advertising, where kerning is the last thing on anyone's mind... except mine. // Determined to get inside the history of typography, I have also studied letterpress printing and punchcutting -- with masters of both crafts. Firsthand experience has taught me that to be great, a typeface must transcend the limitations of any specific technology. // But effective design requires respect for both the past and the present. So every project I undertake begins with extensive research of competing brands, as well as historical precedents to the chosen lettering style. // My work in typeface design has bolstered the brands of countless international clients, including magazines, newspapers, products, major league sports teams, and more. // Now I'd like to contribute to your project.
